The Wall
What does the wall mean to us a century after 1919? How many walls have been built over the course of eight decades? How many have been destroyed? Which brought history forward? Which implied regression? Which did we want to defend, demolish or astride?
14 local artists respond to the wall they encountered in Hong Kong with various media, including the wall between life and death; the wall separated by language and/or technology; the democracy wall; the prison wall; the wall that defends our territory--all embedded with complex emotions and traces of power.
Each work is a brick, the makers are the artists, but also everyone who contemplates the present through history.
